Hieroglyphic Text editor

I am always interested in old languages like the Maya writing system or Egyptian Hieroglyphs. I've found a nice program for editing hieroglyphic text. Jsesh is a Java project from Serge Rosmorduc. Before you really can use this very handy tool you must inform yourself about hieroglyphs and the coding of hieroglyphs on a computer. The program uses the Manuel de Codage, a standard for coding hieroglyphs on computers. And ofcourse you must know something about the Egyptian hieroglyphic writing system. A good source is Alan Gardiners book
