Photography | World War II in color

A very impressive, and sometimes disturbing collection of rare World War II photographs in color. Quote from the site: "... For so many years, historians and casual observers alike have observed the events of World War II through faded black and white images. What most people do not know is the fact that quite a large portion of the WWII was shot using color film! However, it wasn't until recently that a lot of the photographs and motion picture footage was de-classified by the U.S. Government.."

News | Intact tomb found in Valley of the Kings

A new, completly intact tomb is found in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. Very exciting news.
It's not yet on the pages of the Theban Mapping project. But I think they will cover the news with interesting facts and background info. Check their website also if you are interested in Egyptology.
UPDATE: 5 mummies found at the discovered tomb.

Music | Paco de Lucia - Cositas Buenas

Paco de Lucia - Cositas Buenas
release date 1/27/2004

Cositas Buenas features eight new de Lucia compositions, including three blazing bulerías “Patio Custodio,” “Volar” and “Que Venga el Alba,” the latter featuring guitar great Tomatito. Paco sings on “Antonia,” a soleá-style bulería dedicated to his daughter, who can be heard contributing three hearty olés to the track. Rounding out the collection are the tango title track, “Cositas Buenas,” two rumbas in “El Dengue” and “Casa Bernardo” ( with Gonzalez on trumpet and Alejandro Sanz on tres) and the tientos, “El Tesorillo,” featuring a lead vocal from Diego el Cigala. Other tracks feature affecting lead vocals from La Tana, Montse Cortés, el Potito, and Paco himself , raising de Lucia’s latest masterpiece to even greater heights. De Lucia also resurrected the voice of his long-time collaborator, the great flamenco singer Camarón de la Isla, who died in 1992 at age 43, to create a new setting for Camaron's vocal on "Que Venga el Alba".

Tech | New Ipod Nano model - 1GB

Apple today unveiled a new 1GB iPod nano for just $149, essentially a 2GB nano sans half the flash memory, as first rumored in December. The new 1GB iPod nano is thinner than a #2 pencil and features Apple's patent pending Click Wheel and the same color screen as the other iPod nano models. Each 1GB iPod nano holds up to 240 songs or 15,000 photos.
